THESE ARE THE SKINCARE GAME CHANGERS

As the skincare demand continues to shift towards all-natural ingredients, botanicals and super fruits are taking center stage.
So which of mother nature’s best little kept secrets are my favorites?
There definitely are a few that I think are skincare game changers.
Listed below are my top picks and a few thoughts on how they benefit the skin.

WHAT ARE THEY AND WHY SHOULD YOU USE THEM?

Let’s start with the importance of skin health.

First of all think of your skin as a by way – poor skin health creates pathways for dangerous pathogens.  Increased risk of disease, infection and viruses enter through the epidermis and are exposed to the dermal layer, weakening the dermal layer and in return weakening the epidermis to allow more pathogen molecules to continue to weaken the dermal layer creating this viscous cycle, which then causing it to function so poorly the aging process speeds up drastically.
When not cared for properly results of unhealthy skin are; Sensitivity

Chilarity – the process how skins ability  to except products [science – when 2 molecules good and bad divide – bad overtakes the good] is compromised.
Fibroblast of new collagen slows down.
That’s why it’s very important to realize: INGREDIENTS ARE CRUCIAL TO HEALTHY SKIN!

BOTANICALS – derived from plants replenish the skin with antioxidants and lipids.
They increase collagen and elastin production, stimulate cellular energy in the mitochondria [ATP] and increase cellular turnover naturally.
There’s definitely a process to creating a skincare powerhouse that includes all-natural ingredients. A botanical (plant-derived) extract is made from a plant’s roots, flowers, fruit, seeds, bark or leaves. Those all-natural extracts then produce a liquid or powder that is dissolved into a solvent and then mixed with other ingredients. Full of antioxidants and vitamins, botanicals work to protect your skin against free radicals, fight acne, combat oily skin, and work to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. Highly concentrated, only a small amount is needed for maximum results…plus you are doing something good for the environment and yourself by eliminating synthetic ingredients from your skincare routine.

It starts at 0 – Non-comedogenic and goes through 5 – highly comedogenic.

0 – won’t clog pores at all

1 – very low likelihood of clogging pores

2 – moderately low likelihood

3 – moderate likelihood

4 – moderately high likelihood

5 – higher likelihood of clogging pores – works best on extreme dry skin

Non-comedogenic oils (0) moisturize and nourish without clogging pores (the best ones even help unclog them!) and are an essential ingredient in skincare for all skin types.
Oils contain Fatty acids like omega-3 and omega-6 and are key to healthy skin. This is not only true for foods rich in these fatty acids, but in topical applications of products containing them as well. In fact, symptoms of essential fatty acid deficiency can be reversed using products that are rich in linoleic acid.
Topical application may in fact be better than ingesting fatty acids when it comes to skin health. Many fatty acids that are ingested tend to be oxidized in the liver before ever reaching the skin. That makes topical application a more efficient delivery system for this critical acid.
Regardless of your skin type, essential fatty acids are important for skin health even if you don’t have any type of deficiency. For those with healthy skin, topical application of products with fatty acids helps to provide protection from UV radiation and sunburn – a critical step to prevent premature skin aging and wrinkles.
Premature aging is a result of the destruction of collagen in the skin’s cells, and causes a loss of elasticity, which leads to fine lines and wrinkles. Fatty acids in products that are applied to the skin help protect and even can help reverse that damage.

BENEFITS OF PEPTIDES

Scientists have long recognized peptides as the building blocks of life. They are made up of a string of amino acids held together by tough bonds of nitrogen and carbon. They look like a necklace and are present in all of our tissues. Amino acids from 1 to 100 are called peptides, 100 to 200 are called polypeptides, and over 200 they are the ever-popular long chains called proteins. Long-chain proteins can’t penetrate the epidermis because of their molecular size. But peptides can, due to their short chains. Acting as messengers, topical peptides can send out signals to tell the receptors on the skin cells how they are to perform. Each peptide has its own role to play; serums, lotions, and creams with peptides as ingredients must be carefully formulated to meet their predetermined goals. The most important peptides for topical products are discussed below.

ACETYL HEXIPEPTIDE -1

Is a bit of a special snowflake among peptides as it’s not a wrinkle-smoothing, anti-aging active like most other ones but it can stimulate pigmentation and melanin production (by interacting with a skin cell receptor called MC1R). As melanin not only gives the skin it’s nice tanned color it also works as a natural protection factor. It not only boosts a natural tan but gives extra protection against IV-induces DNA and free radical damage and protects the skin against UV-caused redness.

MATRIXYL 3000

Is considered a must-use in anti-aging regimen products Because of the proven capabilities in developing the dermis. Studies show over all collagen synthesis to 117% and collagen IV synthesis up to 327%. (Collagen IV strengthens the basal membrane of the epidermis, an important aspect of strengthening the overall skin.) It also increases hyaluronic acid synthesis by up to 267%. Studies show support its use between botox injections as it can stimulate the development of the dermal component of the relaxed wrinkles, lessening their depth overtime.

PALMITOYL TRIPEPTIDE

1 – stimulates collagen production in the skin. It’s a small three amino acid peptide with the amino sequence of glycine-histidine-lysine, or GHK. GHK is attached to palmitic acid (a fatty acid) to increase oil solubility and skin penetration.

-3 – is a synthetic protein that mimics the skin’s process of producing collagen 1(the most common type of the nineteen forms of collagen) via TGF – tissue growth factor. Clinical studies show products that contain this peptide will enhance wrinkle an fine line reduction, help improve hyperpigmentation and tighten the skin.

-5 – This highly bio-active peptide deeply penetrates the skin through enhanced collagen production.

-7 – This peptide is believed to stimulate the regeneration of collagen in the dermis and improve the epidermal barrier.

In short they maintain the “good bugs” of the skin. They reinforce your skin’s natural barrier against bad bacteria, balance pH, help suppress overactive melanin and sooth over inflamed skin tissue.

FERMENT LYSATE

Is a fairly new probiotic ingredient that is obtained from the Gram-positive bacteria, Lactococcus lactis. The lysate is a fluid substance that is produced when you break down the cell membrane, which means it contains interesting things including cytoplasm and cell wall fragments, it positively influences both the speed and quality of epidermal growth that results in better barrier function and overall skin quality. Fermented probiotics have also been shown to help reduce the proliferation of harmful microorganisms on skin’s surface, potentially improving common, often uncomfortable skin concerns. Applying 10% bacterial extract to sensitive, reactive skin helped with better barrier function and decreased skin sensitivity.

LACTOBACILLUS FERMENT

Is a genus bacteria that is heralded for its use as a probiotic, beneficial for human digestion. It is traditionally used as a natural fermenting agent for use in the production of yogurt, kimchi, sauerkraut, kefir and a variety of other fermented foods. CO Q 10

Coenzyme Q-10 is a kind of fat-soluble quinone compound. Generally, can keep your cells active and energized, helping your cells rid themselves of toxins. CoQ10 is safe for most everyone to use. However, those with vitiligo should consult their dermatologist before using. CoQ10 is nothing new. In fact, it’s been a hero ingredient in Japanese beauty for years. So what exactly is it? CoQ10’s antioxidant properties are basically shields you can apply to your skin to combat all the things that contribute to aging skin such as UV radiation, Infrared radiation and ozone pollution. Remember that the majority of the aging of our skin is extrinsic damage from environmental sources so if we can block those from occurring, our skin will age less.

VITAMIN A

Aka retinol which comes in many forms. Retin-A, Retin-A micro, retinol, retinyl palmitate, retinaldehyde, adapalene, isotretinoin, tretinoin and tazarotene.Benefits of using retinoids:Long term retinoid use basically “changes” your skin by affecting gene expression and causing new skin cells to divide and function at their best. When used consistently, retinoids can keep your skin clear, even out skin tone, repair sun damage, and prevent pre-mature aging. This skin-changing factor, along with other exfoliating and anti-inflammatory properties, make retinoids the gold standard for acne and anti-aging treatments. However, those with clear, wrinkle-free skin can also use retinoids as a preventative measure to help keep skin young and healthy in the long run.Scientists think retinoids work by binding to specific retinoic acid receptors (RARs) in your skin and activating them. The activation of these receptors results in collagen production and/or skin desquamation, etc. Different receptors do different things when they are activated. Therefore, retinoids improve the way your skin sheds and renews itself by binding to and activating these RARs. Think of them as cell-communicators that tell your skin cells to behave in the best way possible.

VITAMIN B3 - (NIACINAMIDE)

3 Reasons You Should Definitely Incorporate Niacinamide Into your skin care routine. It reduces Inflammation plus, promotes even skin tone. Niacinamide actively manages inflammation associated with acne and rosacea by improving the skin barrier. It increases the rate of skin tissue regeneration. It reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation, redness, yellowing and blotchy skin spots for a clearer, more even skin tone. Improves Hydration Niacinamide improves moisture content in the top layer of the skin by increasing the production of keratin, ceramide and fatty acids. It also encourages the production of natural emollients that can help the skin remain hydrated. Slows the Aging Process Niacinamide decreases free radical damage associated with sun and pollutants. It reduces the rate of decline of enzymes in skin that influence the aging process. Think of Vitamin B3 as your new best friend as a skincare miracle worker. It increases skin elasticity and smooths fine lines for that youthful look you’ve always dreamed of.

VITAMIN B5 (Panthenol)

(Panthenol)Applying b5 to your skin helps to retain moisture; it works by pulling moisture from the air and not your skin.  It also works as a great moisturizer for acneic skin. It helps balance oil production in oily skin.

VITAMIN C

When it comes to topical vitamin C, not all C’s are alike.  AE Stabilized buffered Vitamin C – (Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate) Brightens, tightens and lifts skin without irritation. AE Stem C – has a very thin viscosity which means it allows it to penetrate into your skin more quickly and effectively, making if more beneficial then products with thickeners added that lay on top of your skin being less effective. Sodium ascorbyl phosphate ultimately converts into ascorbic acid once it’s in the skin making it more mild then l-ascorbic acid which in most cases causes skin irritation due to its potency.  Give it a try and in a few weeks you’ll see a difference.

VITAMIN E

Well known to soften and smooth skin,  Vitamin E is also a free radical fighting antioxidant that skin loves.

MSM

Is necessary to both collagen and and keratin, where it can help to keep the skin smooth and youthful, and the hair glossy and lustrous. It reduces inflammation and redness in compromised skin. In nutrition circles MSM is well known as a building block for collagen and connective tissues, making it an excellent approach to anti-aging skin care.

BENEFITS Of FACE ACIDS

Facial acids come in many different strengths and  different strength do different things to the skin. Alpha hydroxy acids will actually dissolve the skin and Beta hydroxy  acids will dissolve oils in the skin as to where Hyaluronic acid will moisturize and plump the skin and ferulic acid actually helps enhance other ingredients to work better within the skin.

GLYCOLIC ACID

Is derived from sugar cane has the smallest molecular size allowing it to easily penetrate the skin to dissolve the molecular glue that holds dead skin cells together creating a perfect pathway for products to penetrate and perform.

BETA-HYDROXY ACID (WILLOW BARK)

Salicylic acid is a type of beta hydroxy acid (BHA) found in the bark of the willow tree, and is derived from the metabolism of salicin – an anti-inflammatory agent produced from willow bark.Salicylic acid is used in skin care to soak up and dissolve oils causing acne on the skin. It helps regenerate new skin cells and is soothing for a clear, soft, glowing complexion compromised with acne.

HYALURONIC ACID

I get a lot of questions from clients about it. What I love about an ingredient this effective is simply put, hyaluronic acid pretty much does it all. Hydrates, tightens, protects, smooths, and reduces signs of aging such as fine lines and pigmentation. Oh, and it also stimulates cell growth. It might just be a skincare miracle. Best used applied once or twice a day to the face and neck, followed by a stabilized Vitamin C, my Stem-C and nutrient dense serums and moisturizer. this is a breakdown of how it works.

Hydrates: Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, primarily in the joints, acting as a lubricant to cushion and protect. As a skincare ingredient, some experts say it holds up to 1,000 times its molecular weight in water by attracting and holding on to moisture in the skin cells. Just think of it as a tall drink of water for the skin.

Adryan Essentials uses; Cassia Angustifolia  it’s is a plant-based alternative to hyaluronic acid that many experts believe is safer and outperforms synthetically produced hyaluronic acid.

Reduces signs of aging: Sagging skin lacking elasticity is probably one of the biggest skincare concerns I hear from my clients.
As they age, our skin loses collagen in both the face and neck areas. While hyaluronic acid won’t replace collagen, it will add moisture which helps skin look tighter, reducing fine lines and wrinkles. And if hyperpigmentation is an issue, I recommend mixing a serum containing hyaluronic acid with one that has vitamin C to brighten and reduce skin discoloring.

Stimulates Cell Growth: One of the most exciting things about hyaluronic acid is it not only takes care of issues that are already there, but it can help stimulate new cell growth. Because it is proven to help quickly heal wounds, applying externally binds with the skin, keep it hydrated and healthy which then leads to new cell growth.

FURALIC ACID

Is a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes free-radical damage from pollution, ultraviolet light, or infrared radiation, all of which accelerate skin aging. It’s found in the cell wall of plants like oats, brown rice, peanuts, oranges, and apples. Ferulic acid protects the skin from pollution and radiation, which can lead to wrinkles. When used in conjunction with vitamin C and E it has a boosting effect on the antioxidants allowing them to have the ability to potentiate and make them more stable.

Adryan Essentials botanical based cleansers, essence, serums moisturizers, eye treatments and specialty masques are gentle enough to use daily and play a big part in maintaining “every type” of healthy skin.
